A Torrid Love Affair

I remember there was a time I didn't even bother with blush.  I would wear eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and if I wanted to do something "extra", I would put some lipstick on my fingertip and dab that on my cheeks for instant color.  I still use that technique from time to time, but I'm glad to say that I have since expanded my wealth of cosmetics to include actual products devoted to coloring the cheeks - blush.  And one of my favorite go-to blushes is Torrid from NARS.

NARS is well known for its highly pigmented, easily blendable blushes.  They boast a wide color range that suit an equally vast range of skin tones.  Their best known shade is the infamous Orgasm - a pinky-peach with gold shimmer.  When I swatched Orgasm, the only thing that was visible on my skin was the shimmer; the color itself did not show up at all.  So I tried Torrid, a warm coral with gold shimmer that is basically a darker version of Orgasm, and it was a totally different story.  I looked at how the color danced on my skin and fell in love.

Torrid is finely milled and yields intense color with ease.  The gold shimmer creates a lovely highlight on the face, however, can quickly transform to a "gold frost" if applied heavily.  There may also be some shimmer fallout during placement, but if you "pat" instead of "swirling" this will be minimal.

If you've always admired Orgasm, but found that the color wasn't quite deep enough for your tastes, you may want to check out its slightly bolder sister Torrid.   It's a fetching coral that plays well on the skin, especially during the summer.

Torrid can be found via NARS' website, Sephora and Beauty.com, and retails for about $28.

  1. This is such a gorgeous color! I thought I'd be done with getting any NARS blushes unless it was limited edition but this color is too pretty to pass up. thanks for sharing

  2. Hey, Joanne! I really think it's worth checking out, esp. since it works so well on darker skin tones. If you do, let me know what you think! :0)
